What this engagement is
IT Partner plans and performs a full cutover migration from G Workspace to Microsoft 365, including email, contacts, and calendars to Exchange Online and Google Drive data to OneDrive for Business. The migration uses Microsoft's native migration tooling, which moves mail data, calendars, contacts, and Drive files in the shortest time while avoiding possible errors during manual data transfer. Google Tasks is not migrated because Microsoft's native migration tools do not support it; Google Sites is not included, and Google Forms can be added as an extra-cost item. The project is considered successful when all in-scope user email, contacts, calendars, and Google Drive data are fully migrated from Gmail and Google Workspace to the Microsoft 365 tenant.

What you receive
How the work unfolds
IT Partner confirms the migration scope, participating users, source and destination access, communication plan, cutover timing, known constraints, and the customer point of contact. The team also reviews client responsibilities such as DNS access, user notifications, and cutover readiness.
IT Partner reviews the Google Workspace environment for migration readiness, including administrative access, contact and calendar services, Google Drive data volumes, user list, mailbox sizes, and high-risk users such as executives, VIP users, or users with unusually large mailboxes or deleted item folders.
IT Partner prepares Microsoft 365 identities for the migration by creating and configuring destination users or, where applicable, assisting with AD Connect configuration. Required Exchange Online licenses are assigned so mailbox targets are available before migration starts.
IT Partner configures the migration utility and starts the initial migration pass for Gmail mailbox data, calendars, and contacts to Exchange Online, and Google Drive data to OneDrive for Business. Migration progress and errors are monitored so issues can be reviewed before cutover.
IT Partner validates that migrated mail, calendar, contact, and Google Drive data are landing in the correct Microsoft 365 user profiles and OneDrive accounts. The team reviews migration reports, checks for failed or skipped items, and identifies remediation actions for in-scope migration issues.
At the agreed cutover time, the client performs the required DNS changes, including updating the MX record so inbound mail routes to Exchange Online. IT Partner verifies Microsoft 365 mail flow, Exchange Online Protection behavior, and any required transport rules after DNS propagation begins.
IT Partner performs a final synchronization pass to capture remaining eligible email, contact, calendar, and Google Drive changes from the source system after the initial migration.
IT Partner performs final validation against the success criteria, reviews outstanding migration errors, applies reasonable fixes within the service scope, and confirms that users can send and receive mail and access migrated in-scope data in Microsoft 365. Remaining issues, exclusions, and final status are documented in the project closeout report.

Frequently asked questions
What is included in the Full Cutover G Suite to Microsoft 365 Migration service?
IT Partner's Full Cutover G Suite to Microsoft 365 Migration includes planning and performing a full cutover from G Suite to Microsoft 365: mailboxes with email, calendars, and contacts to Exchange Online, and Google Drive data to OneDrive for Business. The service also includes configuring the destination Microsoft 365 tenant, creating and configuring users, assigning licenses, controlling the migration process, providing user informational messages, and delivering a project closeout report. Google Tasks, Google Sites, and Google Forms are not included — Forms migration can be added as an extra-cost item.
How is this service different from the Cutover Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 Migration - Full Mailbox Data service?
This service is a full cutover migration: it includes Gmail mailbox data plus calendars and contacts migrated to Exchange Online, and Google Drive data migrated to OneDrive for Business. If you only need mailbox migration, you should order the Cutover Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 Migration - Full Mailbox Data instead.
How much does the Full Cutover G Suite to Microsoft 365 Migration cost?
The final cost may depend on the number of mailboxes and any additional services requested outside the stated scope, so confirm the final budget with IT Partner before starting.
How long does a full cutover G Suite to Microsoft 365 migration take?
The stated duration for this service is 1 week. The plan may vary depending on customer needs, source environment readiness, data volume, and issue remediation, so the exact schedule should be confirmed during the kickoff and migration planning process.
What data is migrated from G Suite to Microsoft 365?
IT Partner migrates mailbox data from Gmail to Exchange Online — mail, calendars, and contacts — and Google Drive data to OneDrive for Business. Google Tasks is not migrated because Microsoft's native migration tools do not support it; Google Sites is not included, and Google Forms can be added as an extra-cost item.
Does this service migrate Google Drive files to SharePoint Online?
Google Drive data is migrated to each user's OneDrive for Business as part of this service. Migration of corporate documents into SharePoint Online team sites is not included, but it may be added as an additional service.
What Microsoft 365 prerequisites are required before migration?
You must have a Microsoft 365 tenant with Exchange Online and OneDrive for Business licenses. The required Microsoft 365 licensing must be available for destination users.
What G Suite prerequisites are required before migration?
You must have admin access to G Suite, IMAP access must be enabled for all users, and contact and calendar services must be turned on — with Google Drive access enabled — for all in-scope users.
What DNS access is needed for the cutover migration?
You must have access to your email domain DNS zone, because the cutover includes changing the MX record to point mail flow to the new Microsoft 365 tenant. The client is responsible for performing internal and external DNS changes as required.
What happens during the migration engagement?
The engagement typically includes a kickoff meeting, source system health check, user creation or AD Connect configuration, email and in-scope data migration start, migration verification, MX record cutover to Microsoft 365, final email and in-scope data migration, and issue verification and fixing if needed. The source materials provide milestone names only, so specific task-level details should be confirmed with IT Partner during planning.
Who is responsible for creating users and assigning licenses in Microsoft 365?
IT Partner is responsible for creating and configuring users and assigning licenses as part of the service. The client must ensure the required Microsoft 365 licensing is available, including Exchange Online licensing for destination users.
What responsibilities does IT Partner handle during the migration?
IT Partner gathers information, verifies the original G Suite environment, configures the destination Microsoft 365 tenant, creates and configures users, assigns licenses, creates the migration plan, sends informational messages for users, and starts and controls the data migration process.
What responsibilities does the client have during the migration?
The client must coordinate internal resources and schedules, provide a dedicated point of contact, review and approve deliverables, make required DNS changes, configure network equipment if needed, and provide end user support. The client must also identify high-risk users, such as executives, VIP users, users with 50 GB or larger mailboxes, or users with 30 GB or larger deleted folders.
Will users have access to email after the migration?
A success criterion for this service is that users can access Exchange Online on desktop PCs, mobile phones, and tablets from any place, any time. Another success criterion is that mail can be sent and received using Exchange Online after the cutover and required configuration are complete.
How is mail flow handled during the cutover to Microsoft 365?
The migration plan includes moving the MX record to the new Microsoft 365 tenant, which directs mail flow to Exchange Online. Because DNS changes are required and timing can affect mail routing, the client must have DNS access and should coordinate the cutover timing with IT Partner.
Is downtime expected during the G Suite to Microsoft 365 migration?
The service description does not specify a guaranteed downtime window. Because this is a full cutover migration involving DNS and mail-flow changes, any expected user impact or interruption should be confirmed with IT Partner during the migration plan and kickoff meeting.
Can users keep working in Google Drive during the migration?
Google Drive data is migrated to OneDrive for Business as part of the cutover. Files changed after the final synchronization pass are not captured, so users should stop making Drive changes at the agreed cutover point — the exact freeze window is agreed during planning.
What limitations can affect Google Drive to OneDrive for Business migration?
Google-native file formats such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides are converted to Office formats during migration, and some sharing permissions, comments, and version history may not carry over. Google Sites is not migrated, and Google Forms migration can be handled as an extra-cost item.
What is not included in the Full Cutover G Suite to Microsoft 365 Migration service?
Google Tasks migration (not supported by Microsoft's native migration tools), Google Sites migration, Google Forms migration, customer team training, corporate documents migration to SharePoint Online, desktop software settings, and more extensive documentation are not included in the base service. Google Forms migration, training, SharePoint Online corporate document migration, and more extensive documentation may be available for an additional fee.
What deliverable is provided at the end of the migration?
IT Partner provides a project closeout report at the end of the engagement. The report indicates final project status, acceptance criteria matching, outstanding issues if any, and the final budget.
