Post-Migration Admin Support & Knowledge Transfer

Post-Migration Admin Support & Knowledge Transfer provides scheduled, hourly assistance after a completed Microsoft 365 migration. An IT Partner engineer helps your named tenant administrator stabilize migrated workloads, troubleshoot migration-related admin issues, validate configuration and service behavior, build administrator confidence, and complete a documented handoff without turning the engagement into generic migration work or end-user help desk support.

What this engagement is

This is a clearly bounded post-cutover service for customer administrators who need remote help with tenant-admin issues directly related to a completed migration. Work is purchased in engineer-hour blocks at the current approved hourly rate and scheduled after migration; there is no fixed project duration. Within the purchased hours, IT Partner can troubleshoot and validate migrated workloads, provide configuration guidance, answer administrator questions, transfer practical knowledge, and document findings and next actions. The engagement is not a replacement for migration delivery, end-user hypercare, monthly managed support, or general break-fix support.

Success criteria

01The agreed migration-related administrator issues are resolved, validated, or clearly documented with the next responsible action.
02The customer's named administrator understands the relevant configuration, troubleshooting steps, and operating considerations for the supported workloads.
03Supported work remains within the purchased engineer-hour block and the approved post-migration scope.
04Items requiring new implementation, unrelated remediation, vendor work, data recovery, or ongoing support are separated into a clear follow-up action list.

What you receive

Resolution or documented disposition of supported post-migration administrator issues addressed during the purchased hours.
Configuration and troubleshooting guidance for migrated Microsoft 365 workloads within the agreed scope.
Administrator handoff and knowledge transfer covering the work performed and relevant operating guidance.
A concise findings and action recap identifying completed items and anything that requires separate scope.

How the work unfolds

Confirm the hour block and scope

The quote or SOW confirms the engineer-hour block, approved hourly rate, support window, scheduling, response target, expiry, and any minimum or unused-hour terms before publication or purchase.

Collect admin context

The customer provides a named administrator, a prioritized migration-related issue list, relevant logs or screenshots, and the required permissions or a client-led screen share.

Provide scheduled hourly support

An IT Partner engineer remotely troubleshoots and validates migrated workloads, provides configuration guidance, answers administrator questions, and transfers knowledge while tracking time against the purchased block.

Complete the handoff

IT Partner summarizes supported issue outcomes, guidance provided, hours used as applicable, and items that need a different support service or separate project scope.

Prerequisites

The migration and production cutover are complete, and the relevant Microsoft 365 workloads are available for post-migration validation and administration.
The customer provides a named tenant administrator who can supply context, make decisions, approve changes, and receive knowledge transfer.
Required administrative permissions are available to IT Partner, or the customer's authorized administrator can lead a supervised screen-sharing session.
The customer provides a prioritized list of issues directly related to the completed migration.
Relevant error messages, timestamps, logs, screenshots, migration notes, and prior troubleshooting steps are available when applicable.

Who does what

IT Partner

  • Confirm whether each requested item is directly related to the completed migration and within the purchased support scope.
  • Provide remote administrator-level troubleshooting, validation, configuration guidance, Q&A, and knowledge transfer during scheduled engineer time.
  • Explain recommended actions and obtain customer approval before potentially disruptive configuration changes.
  • Track work against the purchased engineer-hour block according to the quote or SOW.
  • Provide a concise recap of outcomes, guidance, and items requiring separate scope.

Your team

  • Provide a named tenant administrator and the required administrative permissions or a client-led screen share.
  • Provide a prioritized migration-related issue list and the relevant logs, screenshots, timestamps, and migration context.
  • Remain available to answer environment questions, approve changes, and validate results.
  • Coordinate any end users, internal teams, or third parties whose information is required, while recognizing that third-party vendor work is outside this service.
  • Review the findings and action recap and separately authorize any additional hours, ongoing support, or project work.

What's not included

End-user hypercare, user help-desk requests, desktop support, or broad user communications.
24x7 monitoring, continuous managed services, or proactive environment administration.
Emergency incident response or guaranteed immediate response.
Tenant remediation that is unrelated to the completed migration.
New implementations, migrations, architecture projects, or feature deployments.
Custom development, automation, integrations, scripts, or application changes.
Data recovery, restoration, or reconstruction of missing or corrupted source data.
Third-party vendor work, vendor-owned troubleshooting, or changes in non-Microsoft systems.
Unlimited support or work beyond the purchased engineer-hour block.

Limitations & technical notes

!Only tenant-administrator issues directly related to the completed migration are in scope. Requests outside that boundary require another support service or separate project scope.
!The service is purchased in engineer-hour blocks at the current approved hourly rate; it is not a fixed-duration project or unlimited support package.
!Unused hours, minimum block size, support window, scheduling, response target, expiry, and any time-rounding rules must follow the quote or SOW and require commercial confirmation before publication.
!Resolution within a particular number of hours is not guaranteed because results depend on issue complexity, access, logs, Microsoft service behavior, and customer or third-party dependencies.
!For end-user hypercare, use ITPWW310MSPOT. For 30-day monthly post-migration administrator support, use ITPWW300MSPRC. For general Microsoft 365 break-fix support, use ITPWW190MSPRC.

Frequently asked questions

Who is this service for?

It is for a named Microsoft 365 tenant administrator who needs scheduled, engineer-led stabilization help and knowledge transfer after a completed migration. It is not an end-user help desk or a replacement for the migration project.

What counts as post-migration admin support?

In-scope work is remote administrator assistance for issues directly related to the completed migration, including troubleshooting and validating migrated workloads, configuration guidance, administrator Q&A, knowledge transfer, and a concise findings and action recap.

How are support hours consumed?

Engineer time is drawn from the purchased hour block as scheduled work is performed. The minimum block, time-rounding rules, support window, scheduling, response target, unused-hour treatment, and expiry are defined in the quote or SOW and must be commercially confirmed before publication.

Are end users covered?

No. This service supports the customer's tenant administrator. End-user hypercare belongs under ITPWW310MSPOT, Microsoft 365 End-User Hyper Care Service.

What happens when the purchased hours run out?

IT Partner stops or reprioritizes work according to the quote or SOW and provides an action list for anything unfinished. The customer can approve another engineer-hour block or move the remaining work to the appropriate monthly support, break-fix, or project service.

How are urgent issues handled?

This is scheduled hourly support, not emergency incident response. Urgent or business-critical issues should use the applicable incident or break-fix path, including ITPWW190MSPRC where appropriate. Scheduling and response targets for this service follow the quote or SOW.
