## Licensing rules that matter

- Windows Server Standard and Datacenter are licensed per core: minimum 16 cores per server and 8 per processor, sold as core packs.
- Every user or device that touches the server also needs a Windows Server CAL; Remote Desktop use needs RDS CALs on top.
